Day Two: My Favorite Season Is...

Autumn! Who doesn't love the fall? Pumpkin, Red/Orange/Yellow Leaves, Apples, Crisp Cool Weather. Somehow things just feel perfect during this season...as if this is how life should be. This is one of the reasons I love the East Coast.

In October, when it was close to peak fall colors, I spent a weekend in Front Royal, VA, one of the gateways to the Shenandoah National Park. We stayed at a great B&B there...Bob and Joanie were both so nice and the breakfast was awesome!

French toast made with Apple Cider & Blueberry Pancakes!

Then we went on a great hike on the White Oak Canyon Trail. They weren't kidding when they said that it was a "butt-kicker." Shenandoah is such a pretty place and I doubt I could ever get tired of it...this hike in particular offered gorgeous views and lots of water falls! We lucked out in that we went during the week day and avoided the crowds, it was awesome.

During our hike, my hiking guide and very own Davy Crockett noticed Sassafras trees. Sassafras extract is a primary ingredient in root beer!!! The neat part about this tree is that it has 3 different kinds of leaves on the same plant...

unlobed oval,
bilobed (mitten-shaped),
and lastly, trilobed (three pronged)
Cool huh?!

Gorgeous weather, good food, full moon, beautiful scenery, good company...gosh, I am so lucky!

*Good night*
