Get Some Balls

...So I read an article by Tom Chiarella from Esquire.com a few weeks ago and it made me think. The article is titled “Why Love Takes Balls.” Based on the title itself and the fact that the author discusses an incident that he had with a girl regarding ball scratching in his own bed, the article is a must read in my book. In the article, Tom Chiarella tells men that they should stop giving in for bad reasons: stop apologizing because it’s what they should do, because that’s how they think they could keep peace, or really…because they are afraid of what their partners would think of them if they react the way they truly want to and that their partners would not accept them for who they really are. Tom Chiarella suggests that courage is what matters in love, so that’s why love takes balls. Tom writes,

“The only thing that matters in love is courage. Everything that's good about love is borne out of it. The truest revelations of self require it. There is no honesty without it. It takes courage to put the needs of another above your own. You can't tell the most important stories about your past, can't reveal your imperfections, without it. You can't see the flaws in your own expectations of love without being brave enough to admit they are misguided, damaged, even boneheaded, then do the work to adjust them to the love you come to discover. It is courage that allows you to step into the jaws of trust.”

I love this quote because I couldn’t agree more. Just wanted to share the article with you guys. All right everyone, get some balls :) and good luck!
