What's new?

HELLO! Are you ready for a super long entry???

Lately I've been feeling very envious of blogs that are always well kept, well written, and always ridden with beautiful photographs! What I realized is the large amount of work and dedication these bloggers put into their blogs and that instead of being envious, I should work harder to make this blog what I want it to be...a repository of my ridiculous ranting and some of my favorite photos.

Summer, for some odd reason, has returned to Washington D.C. despite the beautiful fall weather we had the last 2 weeks. Even though it was in the 90s today, we all know that summer is truly coming to an end. This summer was an interesting one - experienced an unbearable heat wave (even I couldn't do it without a window AC unit...and I was trying really hard), learned a lot working temporarily in a different location, traveled a lot more than I had anticipated, and learned how to wait and have faith...

Enough rambling...here are some photos.

Early August I got to go on a research ship somewhere around Florida! Here's the view leaving the dock.

To get to the ship, we had to get on to a small boat.

Ever since I was little, I've known that I was prone to motion sickness..hence why dramamine and now bodine is always with me whenever I need to get on a boat/other floaty objects. I was somewhat worried that I would still get seasick, but alas bodine helped me make it through without any issues...the calm seas also helped! I loved being on the ship...24-7 soft serve ice cream machine (that's the life!)...but really the main reason is that I loved the team dynamics that I saw aboard.

I saw not 1 but 3 water spouts @ sea!!! That was super cool.

The really cool part about the ship was that there was a submersible on board! No, I didn't get to go "under the sea" but I did get to sit in it and got a crash course on how it really works. The picture on the left was taken inside the submersible. It is amazing what technology can do, how can you not love science & technology? How?

As I mentioned earlier, the month of August and September was filled with much more traveling than I had originally planned - Florida, Oak Ridge/TN, and Boston!!! I love traveling but being at airports and going through security lines, no thank you!

Knoxville, TN airport

I just wanted to note that my emera bag finally came after being on the wait list for 4 months!!! It is nice getting to carry the dslr without having the big backpack all the time :)

Now comes the fun part of the summer - my trip with Rachey to Daphne and Neil's BBBBB (Bed, Breakfast, Badminton, Booze (none for Rachey), and BBQ!

Daphne is one of the best cooks I know! Beef Noodle Soup = YUMMMMY

BBBBB needs 2 more B's...my favorite non-human companions Bootie and Brownie!!

Here's King Brownie getting the royal treatment from Rachey

The cats with their mommy on the lovely porch.

Two of my favorite people in the world...of course, you can always leave it up to Neil to take a weird photo. ALWAYS.

Are you ready? It's time to EAT!

The most fancy homemade hamburger I've ever had.

Ribeye is my favorite favorite type of steak. Do I want to cry when someone tells me that they are going to ground ribeye steaks up into hamburgers? Yes...but after tasting this ribeye burger, did I change my mind? OH YES, OH YES.

Every time I visit Boston, Daphne brings us croissants from Iggy's, this time I finally got to go. As Neil put it...it was like "pastry porn." Why can't Iggy's move to DC?!

This summer I also made my first visit to Ohio...Oberlin, OH. It was a memorable trip. I didn't really have any idea of what Oberlin would be like..but the Hawaiian Coconut coffee at the bookish coffee shop and the historic old college town feel got me. One of the things we did there was have a cookout at a nearby state park. What was supposed to be 30% chance of rain turned out to be a beautiful beautiful day.

It's time to come home! Home really isn't too shabby either - brunch at Montmarte. A day that has latte art in it is an indication that the day is going to be perfect!

I can't decide which version I like better.

While sitting at the coffee shop, I noticed the neat reflection off of the fingerprint scanner on my laptop...kind of cool, right?

When Amy could no longer sit still, we took a stroll around Eastern Market and came across this pinkish weird pumpkin. Autumn is my favorite season and one of the reasons why is pumpkin bread. I wonder if this pumpkin makes good bread...

Fall is coming and summer is leaving us...but please don't fret because ice cream never will!

Good bye for now.
